you know the ‘last supper’ where He talked about His covenant with us……
He said “do this in rememberance of me”……the bread=his broken body, the wine=his shed blood…….
………. he passed around the broken
bread and the cup…….. for them and for us to PARTAKE with him as he also partakes.
We were taught in Church this is a “symbol” of his death on the cross……. for us to ponder…….
and it became a “ritual” of Church, every month when we did this…….
…… but Jesus is actually inviting us to/ and informing us that////// we will be partaking of this wiith him……
He did not say, do this as a ritual,,,, or that this is a symbol only for rememberance , He said,
Take and eat, take and drink/ drink this…………
He is telling us (His disciples) that we are to PARTAKE OF IT with him……….
not as a symbol, a ritual an “ordinance” (as they call it in Church) ………
He is telling us our covenant with Him, involves our death, the breaking of our bodies , the shedding of our blood (our death)……….
His death………. our death………………
TAKE AND EAT
take and drink…….
eat / partake of His death
drink the blood of the covenant……
entering in to / joining with him…… in His death……. partaking with Him…………..
not just an “accepting what HE did for us”……. but an invitation to join Him in His death.
Loretta
Right on Loretta, you speak the truth. Man torques the things of God into what he wants them to be. The pagan tradition of Christmas is another perversion of “do this in rememberance of me”. Man and his inventions. Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. Good focus sister, the peace of our Christ be with you, mark
very true sister Loretta, and thanks also brother Mark for sharing understanding in this hour of darkness..
its all about drinking from the cup of a crucified life in Christ…
peace
bill.
Loretta, it truly is about us partaking with him in a crucified life for God’s glory. Jesus told the church of the Laodiceans (in the Book of Revelaiton) that this would essentially be the way that they would overcome their lukewarmness.
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” ~ Revelation 3:21
Jesus overcame all things by his death on the cross. We must be willing to overcome by crucifying our self to the world.
“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” ~ Galations 6:14
