The Bethel Movement: Part 2

Download MP3 Study Notes

1Ki 12:28 Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
1Ki 12:29 And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.
1Ki 12:30 And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.
1Ki 12:31 And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

We conclude our look at the Bethel Movement, arguably the biggest religious movement on the land, all encompassing as it spreads the plagues of false doctrine, man building and climbing, helping God with his magnificent plans albeit carrying out works of iniquity.

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

One Response to The Bethel Movement: Part 2

  1. Wormwood was also found in Simon the sorcerers heart.

Acts 8-21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. 23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, {ie-wormwood} and in the bond of iniquity.

Simon was the first false prophet in the NT, an expression of the apostate church, and is described as having a heart of wormwood “walking” in the bonds of sin.. This bitterness then proceeds out of the mouth of false prophets because out of the “abundance” of the heart the mouth speaketh, Matthew 12-34.
