Adulterers have are to be shunned, we should have no fellowship with those in constant continual sin. Adulterers cannot feed the flock, they are hypocrites bedded down in sin. Run away from them.
If you are unclear as to what an adulterer is Jesus tells us in Mark 10: 11. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
So if one is remarried and that first spouse yet lives, ye are an adulterer. The judgment is not ours but God’s, he has spoken it. Prove what is will of God doing all good works.
And there is also another way to look at an adulterer besides what you say, Betsy, and that is like this:
Jas 4:4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
When we conform to this world and try be it’s friend, and are not salt and light, in the eyes of our Father we are adulterers.
