Soundoctrine Podcast: Rev 20, Gog Magog now

Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
This is a very important verse to understand, why? because we’re livin’ it. Satan was bound at the cross to be kept from deceiving the nations, the gentiles enough to receive the gospel. Although there was tremendous opposition persecution the gospel spread was carring forwad by a remnant which God always preserved who came against tremendous tribulation, beheaded literally and figuratively for the sake of the testimony of Jesus Christ. That period does come to an end in God prophetic historical work. Satan is released from his prison to go out to deceive again at the level he achieved when he had the entire religious system so controlled that they executed the very Messiah they were waiting for. How did he do that? Because they were so accustomed to their power and positions of authority that a Messiah establishing his kingdom would just cause to much trouble. As the prophetic word tells it’s deva vu all over again. Satan is again in his seat of authority, released from his prison.
Rev_12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

  1. Kate E says:

I appreciate your love for the truth and your honesty about the personal challenges you face in your life. I also love the truth and as a result experience similar challenges. About 10 years ago I started seeking the truth from the Word and praying for understanding. Before this I had devoted 100% of my time to my career and my family (I am married with 2 children who are now grown up and on their own). I didn’t seek God at all the reality of which is that I built my life on a weak foundation. Then I lost my job which, in hindsight, I believe was discipline from God to free up my time so I could devote it to seeking him. Since I started seeking God my eyes have been opened to the truth of his Word, but I have experienced personal attacks from pretty much all my family; from my husband considers himself an atheist, and from my parents who fell out of the Catholic Church and scoff at all religions. I can understand what you are talking about when you speak of conflict, argument, and disagreement because these things are present in my life more than ever before. On the bright side though, I believe this is what Jesus came to do – separate his people from the world with the sword of the Word.

The truth is critical to my salvation so my doctrine only comes from the Word. While I appreciate having someone to discuss scripture with, I am not seeking a teacher because Christ is my only teacher. I believe that the gift of knowledge (gnosis – 1st hand) has ceased meaning that we can only find the truth in the inspired Word of God. I also believe that the appointments with the church (body of believers) of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers listed in Eph 4:11 have ceased. I believe that is why there is such a great deception in all organized religion today because the Word of God is the only source of truth.

Like you, I believe we are experiencing the Gog and Magog war now, that Satan has been released for a short span, which has escalated conflict and delusion globally. The unrighteousness of mankind is escalating in many respects; hate and violence, lying and deception, immorality, just general godlessness, leading me to believe that the end must be fairly close. I also agree that the Revelation Gog Magog war is what Ezekiel prophesied in chapter 38 & 39 which is spiritual like his temple vision in chapters 40 through 48. I agree that the 144,000 are from the nation of Israel – the dry bones that were brought back to life and the one stick as you indicate from Ezekiel 37 and the 12 apostles, all from the tribe of Judah the foundation of the temple.

Perhaps this is where our agreement ends because I believe that the dry bones were brought back to life and joined with the 2nd stick, which is the gentiles, in the Apostles generation. I realize you don’t have much appreciation for Preterism, however I consider myself to be a Modern Preterist, believing that Christ’s 2nd coming, the last trumpet, the 1st resurrection, and the great tribulation all occurred when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed in approx. 70 AD putting us either in the millennial age or just outside of it.

There are a few other differences between our understandings of scriptural truths. I believe women and men are equal and that in Genesis 3:16 where God says that a wife’s desire will be for her husband and will rule over her it is a warning about the inclination of fallen mankind which was not in line with God’s intent that both man and women put God first in their lives (not their spouse) and rule over the things in the world as equals Gen 1: 26 to 30. I believe that when Jesus came, he didn’t change anything, but restored equity within his spiritual body Gal 3:28, 1 Cor 12:13, Joel 2:29.

I don’t fully comprehend how both of us can have a love for the truth yet have significant differences in our understanding, but I haven’t found anyone that I agree with on all things. Perhaps there is some kind of veil that leads us to different understandings, however I am certain there is only one truth so all I can do is keep studying and praying for understanding. I certainly hope that both of us will pass any testing required making us worthy of eternal life in the New Jerusalem where we will all be in perfect agreement on everything.

If you would like to discuss anything further just send me an email and I would be more than happy to go deeper into the scripture I use to support my beliefs and would appreciate hearing yours. I find my understanding and faith grow enormously through interactions with my fellow believers.

    God bless!
